Boarding Houses

At Three Rivers Academy, we don’t call dormitories “dorms.”  We call them “houses” because a house is where a family lives.

The matron, the faculty member, and students who live in one of our houses make up a family. Matrons and faculty are attuned to each student’s needs and teach life skills, promote wellness, and guide students in character development. Each house has a unique Shuka pattern, and each student is given a Shuka that gives them identity and pride in their house.

Each house has two floors and holds 80 students, up to eight per room. Each floor has a modern bathroom block with showers, toilets, and sinks on both floors. Each house has a comfortable living area for students to watch their favorite football team or a movie, play a game, or hang out with friends. There is a “quiet room” very close to the matron’s quarters for students who might need extra rest and care. The boys’ and girls’ houses are a long distance from each other on separate sides of the campus. However, as a coed school, there are supervised visiting opportunities. Boys and girls eat nutritious, healthy meals together in the beautiful dining hall with views of Mt. Kenya and the large dam.
